Button Box player Joe Bajuk, from the San Francisco area of California, was originally
inspired by the music of Lojze Slak, playing the more European/Alpine style as the
son of Slovenian immigrants who were from the Bela Krajina region. Joe’s love for
polka music surfaces at the age of four, when he taught himself to play the harmonica.
At age six he got a Hohner Box. He started writing his own music at age 13. At age
16, Joe recorded his first album called “Magic Buttons, Polkas And Waltzes.” Joe
collaborated with the late Gary Seibert and in his earliest recordings featured Gary's
daughter Donna Seibert-Clay and son Mark Seibert. Gary was very instrumental in promoting
Joe Bajuk on the button box as they shared an album entitled "Twice As Nice". The
CD featuring a unique sound of polka music. The first 7 songs feature Gary Seibert
with Polka Power California, a nationally renowned band, while the next 7 songs feature
Joe Bajuk. Gary Seibert's Cleveland style and Joe Bajuk's Slovenian button box style
are sure to please polka lovers everywhere. The next album of mostly original Bajuk
compositions, "Something Old, Something New" features Cleveland-style musicians Mark
Habat, Eddie Rodick III, Ralph Delligatti, and Norm Kobal with special recording
assistance from Bob Kravos in his Chardon, Ohio recording studio. The album “Melodies
From Beautiful Slovenia" is a winning combination by Joe Bajuk and Bob Kravos along
with a trio from the Fantje Na Vasi (Boys from the Village) of Cleveland, Ohio. A
nice album with melodious songs and authentic Slovenian sound. Joe’s album “Songs
From California” feature all originals on diatonic button box and chromatic accordion.
Button Box speler Joe Bajuk komt uit de San Francisco regio in Californië. Hij
werd geïnspireerd door de Europian - Alpine muziekstijl van Lojze Slak. Joe is een
zoon van een Sloveense immigranten familie afkomstig uit het Bela Krajina gebied.
